Linh Ung Pagoda Da Nang

The first attraction in the journey to conquer Son Tra Mountain is the Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda. The Danang locals in Son Tra Peninsula said that, under the reign of Minh Mang Emperor (Nguyen Dynasty, 19th century), there was an ancient Buddha statue from the ocean drifted on the beach here. Believing that was an auspicious sign, people here established a pagoda to worship the Buddha.

From that, the region is getting stable and fishermen could work in peace for a long time. The beach where the Buddha statue drifted was named Bai But (i.e. Buddha-land on earth), and the Lingh Ung pagoda was erected today.

The highlight here is the wild monkeys, they seem to be friendly to the people and tourists. From the mountain, they come down to find some food, and fruits from tourists visiting the pagoda.

The cool weather, wonderful panoramic views of the Ocean and Da Nang city as well as the tallest Lady Buddha Statue in Vietnam at 67 meters tall compared to sea level. Lady Buddha with a gentle face, is standing there helping and blessing the locals in Da Nang City.
