Linh Ung Bai But Pagoda
Linh Ung Pagoda is the first stop on your private car journey from Hoi An to Monkey Mountain. Perched on the Son Tra Peninsula, this hilltop temple is famous for its 67-meter-tall Lady Buddha statue, the tallest in Vietnam, overlooking the sea and Da Nang city below.
The statue has 17 levels inside, with 21 smaller Buddha figures, and the peaceful grounds are often visited by wild monkeys roaming nearby. Entrance to the pagoda is free, and it’s open to visitors throughout the day.
Rada 29 Station – Indochina Eye
Next, we will visit the Indochina’s Eye is the name of the air traffic control and early warning radar station on the Son Tra peninsula, covering the entire Gulf of Tonkin, and the airspace of Laos and Cambodia. The terrain is located at an altitude of 621m above sea level, and the radar’s coverage ability makes it a big eye with an observation radius of hundreds of kilometers.
Chessboard Peak
As we continue the Hoi An to Monkey Mountain private car journey, one of the most unforgettable parts is the scenic drive up to Chessboard Peak. The winding mountain road offers ever-changing views. At times, you’ll see a calm, jade-green beach stretching along the coast, and at others, the vast sea peeks through thick, green forest.
Reaching the top of Chessboard Peak, you’ll find a quiet spot where legend says two deities once played a game of chess that was never finished, adding a touch of mystery to the breathtaking views all around.
1000-year-old Banyan Tree
Last but not least, in our private car from Hoi An to Son Tra Mountain is the Chessboard Peak. Right on the route to the top of Ban Co, there is another turn to reach the old banyan tree.
Discovered in 1771 and determined by scientists to have a lifespan of about 800 years in 2014. The banyan tree on the edge of East Son Tra is considered the largest tree in Vietnam, with a trunk circumference of 10m. It consists of 26 secondary roots, and each root is 25m high.
With its amazing height, the thousand-year-old tree spreads a wide canopy of leaves to cover a vast mountain forest, creating shady areas to shade the sun and the rain, and is a resting place for many tourists.
After all, our friendly and experienced driver will drive you safely back to your hotel/homestay in Hoi An. We finish the Hoi An to Monkey Mountain by private car. Best Hue City Tour Travel wishes you a great memory with us.
