Huyen Tran Princess Temple Introduction
Located at 151 Thien Thai Street, An Tay Ward, Hue City, Huyen Tran Princess Temple has been a popular tourist attraction on the land of the Citadel. However, every time I visit, I still see the beautiful novelty, attractive from this familiar address by the two words “dragon” and “fairy”.
Huyen Tran Princess’s Biography and Love Story
Huyen Tran was the loved daughter of Tran Nhan Tong King and Kham Tu Empress. In 1306 the Tran Nhan Tong King kept the promise to give marriage to Champa Kingdom King. Huyen Tran at that time loved Tran Khac Chung- a high-ranking mandarin under the Tran dynasty. But because of the safety of the country and the promise of the father, Huyen Tran became the queen Paramesvari- wife of Che Man- Champa Kingdom King.
Che Man appreciated the promise of the father-in-law. So he offered a big wedding gift as the 2 provinces from Quang Tri province to Quang Nam. Unfortunately, one year after the marriage, Che Man got sick and passed away. Following the customs of Cham people, when the husband passed away, the wife has to follow him.
Tran Anh Tong King, her brother didn’t want to see that, so he ordered Tran Khac Chung to go to the Champa Kingdom to rescue her. After all, Huyen Tran decided to become a Buddhist nun and lived as a simple.
To be grateful for her contribution to the country and celebrate the 700 years Thuan Hoa, Phu Xuan’s ancient capital city. The government constructed Huyen Tran Cultural Center and it has been opening until now.
What to see at Huyen Tran Cultural Center?

Huyen Tran Cultural Center is about 28,5 hectares wide, lies on Ngu Phong Mountain foot, Hue city. Surrounded by vast pine mountains, Huyen Tran Princess temple is such a wonderful spiritual site to enjoy the holy spirit and admire the beauty of nature.
From far away, you can easily see 4 tall pillars as the big candles show the princess the right way to enter the afterlife. Moreover, there are 4 stone dog sculptures to protect the temple.
After that, you will enter into a large yard paved by Bat Trang tiles and the beautiful lakes full of lotus flowers. And then a small bridge leading to the Three-Door Gate to enter the Huyen Tran Princess shrine. All of the monuments are on an axis and very symmetrical.
Inside the temple, there is a bronze statue of the princess sitting on the throne. It is 2.37 m tall and was cast in Bronze casting village in Hue. In the backyard is the altar to worship Doan Nhu Hai- a high-ranking commander who helped the king manage the provinces that given by the Champa Kingdom.

On the way to the Hoa Binh Bell Pavillion, there is a huge Happy Buddha statue with a happy and lovely smile blessing people. Some people think if you touch the beer belly of Happy Buddha, you will get happiness and safety.

On the peak of Ngu Phong Mountain is the Great Bell of Peace cast by bronze with a height of 2.16 meters tall, 1.6 tons of weight. It would be a great challenge if you climb up to 246 steps to reach the Great Bell and ring it. The sacred sounds from the Bell will bring peace to people in Hue city.
