The Hien Luong Bridge crosses the Ben Hai River in central Vietnam, serving as a symbol of the nation’s unity. Following the 1954 Geneva Agreement, which saw the French withdrawing troops from Indochina, including Vietnam, the country was divided into North and South along the 17th Parallel, with the Ben Hai River in Quang Tri marking the border. This division persisted for approximately 21 years, during which Vietnam underwent a significant struggle for reunification.

The Vinh Moc Tunnels are one of 114 tunnels, large and small, dug throughout the Vinh Linh district. However, this is the most typical construction compared to the 114 tunnels. The Vinh Moc Tunnels not only served as safe shelters for hundreds of people but also acted as crucial transfer stations for food and weapons to Con Co Island and the battlefields of the South.
The entire Vinh Moc Tunnels are divided into 3 levels and are interconnected through a main axis measuring 870m in length. The total length of the tunnel village is 1,701m, comprising 13 entrances/exits (including 6 exits leading to the hilltops and 7 exits opening towards the sea) and 3 air vents.
